Exhibition | VizChitra 2026
VizChitra 2026 invites proposals for Data, Otherwise, an exhibition of contemporary data visualization work focused on climate and ecological change, especially work connected to India and South Asia.
We’re looking for projects that stretch what data visualization can be: not only charts and screens, but experiences that people can walk through, listen to, touch, or sit with.
Submissions are welcome from artists, designers, researchers, scientists, journalists, technologists, activists, educators, students, and anyone working with data across disciplines.
The exhibition is organized around three interconnected themes. You can use them as starting points, not strict categories:
📊 More-than-human data
⚡️ Living with climate change
🔄 Adaptation and resilience
Before submitting your proposal, we encourage you to review the
detailed outline of each theme on our
website, along with the conference formats.
🗓️ Deadline: 15 February 2026.
Note: By filling and submitting this form, you consent to the use of your submitted information for reviewing your proposal, organising the event, and contacting you about VizChitra 2026.
Let's start with your personal details.
A short note about yourself.
In less than 260 characters (roughly 30 words), tell us a bit about yourself. We may feature this description on our communication channels if your proposal is selected.

Let's dive into your project!
What makes a strong exhibition proposal?
Strong proposals clearly connect the data, the way it’s gathered, and the form of visualization. They also showcase how the work helps audiences notice relationships between environments, infrastructures, and lived experience in a fresh way.
Note: F
or a quick guide on how to shape your proposal or details about "Production & support", "Fees/honorarium" and "Rights & responsibilities", visit
the exhibition section of our website.
Give your work a clear name (working titles are totally fine).
Provide the following details (Max 300 words):
- What it is: a 1–2 line summary of the project
- Visitor experience: what people will see/hear/do (and for how long)
- Why data is central: how “data + visualisation” drives the work (not just decoration)
- The core question: what the work helps us notice / rethink / discuss
- Context: where this sits (place/community/ecology/system) and why that matters
- Why it fits Data, Otherwise: a line connecting it to the exhibition themes
What kind of data are you using or proposing? (numbers, text, images, sensor readings, archives, interviews, field notes, etc.)?
Where does it come from, and how will you gather or generate it? (Max 150 words)
How do you visualize it?
*
How will the data become visible/legible/experiential (screen-based, print, installation, sculpture, projection, sound, participatory format, etc.)?
What questions does the work raise—or what do you want people to notice and discuss? (Max 150 words)
